Black and White Squads Showcase Northern Ontario Talent
The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) sent two teams to compete at the ALLIANCE Hockey U16 AAA Face Off tournament held at the Komoka Community Wellness & Recreation Centre over the October 24-26 weekend. Team NOHA Black and Team NOHA White faced strong competition from across the ALLIANCE, with contrasting results for the two squads.
NOHA WHITE DOMINATES WITH 3-0-1 RECORD
Team NOHA White had an outstanding weekend, finishing with three wins and one tie in their four games. The squad showed impressive offensive firepower, outscoring opponents 22-7 across the tournament.

Top Scorers - NOHA White:
Balanger was the tournament's offensive catalyst for Team White, recording at least one goal in every game except the Cambridge tie. Proulx provided crucial secondary scoring with three goals, including a game-winner, while Duchesne was a playmaking force with five assists.
Other notable contributors included #2 Reid Martin (2G, 1A), #21 Reed Sauve (1G, 2A), #12 Lennox Therrien (1G, 2A), #6 Tayden Smith (1G, 2A), and #9 Cole Coulter (2G).
NOHA BLACK BATTLES THROUGH TOUGH SCHEDULE
Team NOHA Black faced a challenging weekend, going 0-4-0 but showing resilience in competitive games. Three of their four losses were decided by two goals or fewer, demonstrating the team's ability to compete against quality opponents.

Farquharson led Team Black's offense with two goals and two assists, showing consistency across multiple games. Guzzo demonstrated his scoring touch with two goals, while McKinlay contributed both offensively and as a playmaker.
Other contributors included #6 Bryson Palahnuk (1G, 1A), #15 Rocco Des Reis (1G, 1A), #16 Nolan Lesperance (1G, 1A), #3 Ryder Hooey (1G), and #21 Matti Farmer (1G).
TOURNAMENT SIGNIFICANCE
The ALLIANCE Hockey U16 AAA Face Off served as an important showcase for Northern Ontario's top 2009-born players. Both Team NOHA squads used this tournament as part of the evaluation process for the 2026 OHL Cup, where Team NOHA will represent the NOHA against the province's best U16 AAA teams in Toronto from March 30 to April 4, 2026.
The weekend provided valuable game experience and competition against ALLIANCE opponents, helping Northern Ontario scouts and coaching staff assess talent as they prepare for the spring showcase event.
Next up, Team NOHA Black and Team NOHA White will compete at the OMHA Showcase in Bowmanville in December.
