NOHA Jim Conners Memorial Award - Corey Jackson
Every year, the NOHA recognizes the many Officials and Volunteers who contribute to the game in Northern Ontario. Traditionally, these individuals are recognized at the NOHA Annual General Meeting, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be acknowledging all award winners via the NOHA website and our various social media platforms from April 14 to April 23, 2020.
Jim Conners Memorial Award – Corey Jackson (Sault Ste. Marie)
Sault Ste. Marie native Corey Jackson completed his first year of officiating this past season and has played hockey at high levels including Junior A and Ontario University Athletics. Corey has a great understanding and feel for the game and shows a passion for it while officiating. Corey officiated all levels of hockey from Novice to Midget AAA games on the lines and was also given the chance to referee Bantam House League and Peewee A games this year. He is very receptive to all feedback given to him, both positive and negative. Corey arrives to the arena looking the role and is always punctual with an attitude to succeed. Congratulations to Corey Jackson on being named the 2019-2020 Jim Conners Memorial Award winner.
About the Jim Conners Memorial Award
To a young official within the NOHA who shows potential to be an asset to the Officials Program, who always shows for their assignments in a clean and neat dress and displays the type of attitude which allows them to be recognized as a dedicated young Official.
The NOHA would normally pay for the winner’s attendance to the NOHA Development Camp, which is held in Sudbury. Given the event’s cancellation for the 2020 season, the NOHA will instead cover the Official’s registration fee for the 2020/2021 season.
