Northern Ontario AAA Teams a Presence at Big Nickel

The Big Nickel AAA Tournament in Sudbury, Ontario, is the most prestigious AAA tournament in the North, and 2018’s tournament was no exception, adding two new Divisions in Minor Bantam AAA and Minor Peewee AAA.

32 Teams participated this year, with AAA talent from all across Ontario, from Toronto, to Ottawa, to Thunder Bay.

The NOHA had a total of 17 teams representing the North, and of the 5 Divisions, 4 NOHA teams were in the Finals. At Minor Peewee, the Timmins North Stars lost to the North Central Predators. At Minor Bantam, the Nickel City Sons narrowly lost 5-3 to the Upper Canada Cyclones. The Midget North Bay & District Trappers were one goal down from the Toronto Nationals, and the Major Bantam North Bay & District Trappers won 4-1 against the Thunder Bay Kings.

These Teams all proved that the North is a force to be reckoned with as they continue their seasons in search for more success.
