U15 Camp Applications Open, U14 Goaltender Development Program Now Available

CAMBRIDGE, ON – A new development camp is being offered in the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) to introduce young goaltenders to the skills, concepts and techniques of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence Goaltending Program.

In partnership with Hockey Canada and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), the OHF will host one camp in April for up to 36, 2004-born male goaltenders. These U14 goaltenders will be under the instruction and leadership of goaltending experts working with a curriculum from Hockey Canada’s High Performance Goaltending Advisory Group.

The two-day camp will have four on-ice sessions focusing on skating, positioning and skill stations. There will also be three off-ice sessions covering mental preparation, position specific warm-ups and cool-downs and an introduction to the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence. Lunch will be provided to participants, along with a jersey and T-shirt.

“Goaltending is such a unique position and requires an equally unique approach in preparing the next wave of high performance athletes,” said Tony Foresi, OHF President. “The OHF is pleased to be part of that evolving approach to goaltenders and I am confident that the experience gained during this camp will help our goalies progress toward their goals.”

Goaltenders interested in this introduction to the Program of Excellence are asked to apply by March 4, 2018. All applicants will be notified of their status within two weeks of the deadline. Those who are selected will be invited to Kitchener for the camp on April 28 and 29th.
