NOHA and GNML Announce Team NOHA

North Bay, ON – January 22, 2019 – The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) and Great North Midget League (GNML) are pleased to announce the names of the 19 players (2 goaltenders, 6 defencemen, 11 forwards), born in the year 2003, who have been selected to Team NOHA. Team NOHA will participate at the prestigious OHL Cup on March 13 to 18, 2019 in Toronto.

Players were selected using game evaluations from the Under-15 Camp in August. Players were also selected using game evaluations at the OMHA Eastern AAA Showcase in December, along with evaluations with their club teams. The evaluations were lead by Team NOHA Director of Operations, Mark Seidel.

“We have selected the 19 Players that we think give us the best opportunity to have success at the upcoming events. It is a historic year with the amount of talent in the north this year and unfortunately some very good players didn't make this team. We followed our process and are confident that these young men will give us the best opportunity for success” said Seidel.

Team NOHA will also compete at the OHL Gold Cup in May, which is the first step in Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence, the Program that concludes with the World Junior Hockey Championship.

“The next step in this journey begins as we focus on success at the OHL Cup and OHL Gold Cup to make Northern Ontario proud. I'm so excited to work with this entire group” continued Seidel.

Notable names that have gone through the Team NOHA program prior are 2017 World Junior Championship Silver Medalist and New Jersey Devils Prospect, Blake Speers (Sault Ste. Marie) and 2018 World Junior Championship Gold Medalist and Dallas Stars Prospect, Colton Point (North Bay).
