NOHA Announces Details of Under 14 Camp

The Northern Ontario Hockey Association (NOHA) is very pleased to announce the preliminary details of its inaugural Under 14 Camp, which will be held May 24-26, 2019 in Sudbury. The event, which will be held in conjunction with the OHF/OHL Under 15 Camp that already operates, will be open to 2005 players within the NOHA and will serve as an introduction to Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence, emphasizing skill development on and off the ice. Through the weekend, players will receive several hours of instruction on the ice, including position-specific instruction and skill sessions, as well as one or two exhibition games (final format to be determined) and several off-ice presentations and workshops. The schedule is being developed based on feedback received from a number of Hockey Canada Branches who deliver a similar program. Additional development opportunities will also be available for Trainers, Coaches and Officials during the weekend; plans are being made to host a Level III Trainers clinic in conjunction with the Camp, while professional development opportunities will be available for Coaches looking to improve themselves or who wish to obtain certification maintenance points. “We are very excited to be hosting the Under 14 Camp in Sudbury next May,” said NOHA President Claudette Myre. “Our members have spoken quite loudly about their interest in offering such an event and we are looking forward to working with the OHF and OHL in building a progression for these players to the Under 15 Camp the following season.” Registration for the Under 14 Camp will open in December and will be available on the NOHA website, www.noha-hockey.com.
