Canadian Tire First Shift Registration Now Open
The First Shift program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families by offering a program that is accessible, affordable, safe and most importantly, fun. At a cost of $199, participants will be fitted for and supplied with head-to-toe BAUER hockey equipment and introduced to Canada’s national winter game during six on-ice sessions facilitated by the minor hockey association. The program is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 10 years old, who are registering in hockey for the first time.
“Here at the OHF we believe hockey should be accessible and enjoyed by all – the Canadian Tire First Shift Program helps Ontarians to do just that. We are so grateful to see this avenue help ignite the love of the game to so many new players,” said Tony Foresi, OHF President.
In the program’s fifth year of existence, the Canadian Tire First Shift is well on its way to reaching its goal of successfully transitioning participants into minor hockey associations across the country.
A record number of 3,195 positions are available in 77 programs hosted by 56 minor hockey associations across the OHF, stretching from St. Catharines to Iroquois Falls, with the complete list included below. The majority of the programs (55) will be hosted in the fall, with an additional 22 programs running in the winter. Registration is now available and can be found at www.firstshift.ca
