HTCP Level III Trainers Clinic - North Bay - May 12, 2018


The Northern Ontario Hockey Association will be hosting a Trainers Certification Program (HTCP) Level III Clinic on Saturday, May 12, 2018 in North Bay. The HTCP Level III Clinic is an advanced program, providing the participant the opportunity to enhance their skill and knowledge level through group discussions and hands-on experience. Topics to be covered include:

  • Practical Nutrition

  • Shoulder and Knee Injuries

  • Head/Neck/Spinal Injuries

  • Severe Lacerations

  • Introduction to Athletic Taping

Upon completion of the clinic, participants will be required to write the HTCP Level III Exam on their own and must achieve a passing grade of 75% to receive their certification. HTCP Level III certification expires every three years with an expiration date of August/Year. Eligibility Participants must hold a current valid Level II Trainers card to attend. Current Level I Trainers who are interested in attending can provide proof of Standard First Aid (or other equivalent qualifications) plus a fee of $5.65 to be upgraded to Level II and be eligible to attend the Level III Clinic. Participant Fee $132.74 + HST ($150.00). The fee includes lunch and dinner, as well as the HTCP Level III Manual, Nancy Clark Nutrition Book and Athletic Taping/Bracing Book. This cost has been reduced significantly through a subsidy received by the NOHA Executive. Agenda and Location Start Time: 9:00 AM End Time: 8:45 PM. Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre 700 Lakeshore Dr, North Bay, ON P1A 2G4. Accommodations The NOHA has organized a block of rooms at the Best Western Hotel and Conference Centre for out of town participants to stay at on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 night. The nightly rate is $99.00 + HST. Reference NOHA block when reserving. Facilitator – Chuck Dufton Chuck has been involved with the Ontario Trainers Program almost since its inception in 1988. Throughout his tenure with Hockey Eastern Ontario (previously Ottawa District Hockey Association), he has been involved in all aspects of training from house league to the National Hockey League. He is the HEO’s trainer coordinator and Master Course Conductor, as well as a Subject Matter Expert with the Hockey Canada Safety Program. Hockey Canada has called upon him to assist in various symposiums across the country. Chuck’s dedication to the sport, the training program, and Risk & Safety Education continues to have a positive influence on all trainers/safety individuals in the HEO branch. Chuck is also in his fourth year as the Chairman of the Trainers Committee for the Hockey Development Centre of Ontario. Registration NOHA Members please register here.
