NOHA Entry-Level Clinic Information

Welcome to the 2026–2027 NOHA Officiating Program!

If you are interested in becoming an official for the first time, please follow the steps below to register as an Entry-Level Official for the 2026–2027 hockey season.

The Entry-Level Officiating Program consists of an online Hockey Canada Officiating Program – Introduction course and a mandatory in-person clinic.

STEP 1: Create or Locate Your Spordle Account

Before registering for your officiating clinic, you will need a Spordle account.

If you have already participated in hockey under the Hockey Canada structure, do not create a new account.

Instead, search for yourself as an existing participant and use your existing profile.

STEP 2: Complete Your Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Officials who are 18 years of age or older must submit a valid Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) before registering.

First, apply for your Vulnerable Sector Check through your local police service.

If required, you can use the OHF letter when applying:

Once you have applied:

You may submit your VSC application receipt to begin the screening process.
Once your VSC is issued, you must upload the actual VSC to remain active.
Submit your receipt or VSC through the OHF Screening Portal.

Please allow a few days for your screening to be reviewed and approved.

Officials under 18 do not need to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check.

STEP 3: Register for the Hockey Canada Officiating Program – Introduction

All new Entry-Level Officials must register for and complete the:

When registering, you will be asked:

“Are officials needed in your area?”

Select:

YES – The NOHA does need officials.

Complete all requirements of the online course.

STEP 4: Complete the Online Clinic Fee

Select the Clinic in which you are eligible to officiate to pay the fee.

STEP 5 : Register for an In-Person Entry-Level Clinic

Once you have registered for the online Introduction course, you must register for one NOHA in-person Entry-Level Clinic.

The in-person clinic is no additional cost after registering for the Hockey Canada Officiating Program – Introduction.

You must register for the specific in-person clinic you plan to attend.

Important: Registering for the online course does not automatically register you for an in-person clinic. You must complete both registrations.

STEP 6: Attend Your In-Person Clinic

Attend the in-person clinic you registered for.

Attendance is mandatory.

At the clinic, you will receive practical instruction and learn the fundamentals required to begin officiating.

STEP 7: Complete Your Registration

Once you have:

Registered for the Hockey Canada Officiating Program – Introduction;
Completed the online course;
Registered for an in-person NOHA clinic; and
Attended and completed the in-person clinic;

you will have completed the required Entry-Level Officiating Program requirements.

STEP 8: Spordle Play

Once you are eligible for game assignments, you will need access to Spordle Play.

Watch your email for your Spordle Play invitation and check your junk/spam folder if you do not see it.

Spordle Play is used for officiating assignments, so make sure your account is active and your profile is complete.
